I should have done something

Early this morning on my way to work, I had encountered something really disturbing. Even right now as I write this it still haunts me but I really have to say something because I guess it's the right thing to do.

I was on a bus going to work today. As the bus left the station and turned to the main road, it stopped at a red light, just in time for a middle aged lady to step into the bus and asked where it was going. We was on her way to Lawton but our bus was going to Fairview. She jumped down from the bus though it was already moving. Before we got a chance to call out to the driver to stop the bus, she already jumped out hitting her head on the cement floor in the process, blood coming out from the back.

From what I gather, the police carried her towards the the nearest hospital. And I for one am praying that for some miracle, that lady would survive. Though the amount of blood that I saw on the road really isn't a good sign.

This morning, I was really shocked at what happened. I was near the door of the bus when it happened and as I reacalled that morning event, I was really hoping that there was something I could have done to save her. I was so near her, I could have just grabbed her and stopped her from jumping off the bus. Over and over, I wished there was something I could have done. Now I'm being haunted by her body being moved towards the police car going off to the nearest hospital. If I could have foresaw what she was planning to do, I could've stopped her from jumping. She could have been safely on her way to where she was going. Instead, she might be gone.

When I arrived at the office, my friends told me not to blame myself for it. That it wasn't my fault. But in hind sight, there was still this nagging thing that keeps me from agreeing with them.

I really hope that lady was alright. I really am hoping against hope that she will get out of it. I'm praying and will keep on praying.

For you guys out there who rides the bus. Please don't jump off while it's still moving.
