Happy Father's Day
"When All Is Said And Done"
by Boyzone
Days that we spent
When I was so small
Never let me fall
You never let me fall
Taught me to see
The right and the wrong
Oh I'm not that strong
Wish I was that strong
You've been good to me
Tending my every need
Just look what I am
Can't you see--it's you in me
When all is said and done
Look before you--I'm your son
Can't you see
It's you in me
A man...
Now I'm a man
Time has gone so fast
I didn't want it to
I didn't want it to
Went on my way
Like a crazy young fool
I never wanted to
I never wanted to
You've been good to me
Tending my every need
Just look what I am
Can't you see--it's you in me
When all is said and done
Look before you--I'm your son
Can't you see
It's you in me
A man...
It's Father's Day and now I would be dedicating this blog to the fathers out there. And like my mother's day entry, I would be dedicating this blog to my own father as well who has been working more than 15 years abroad.
Now, it was a toss up between Cat Stevens "Father and Son" and Boyzone's "When All is Said and Done" in the song choice that I would be dedicating to all the Fathers out there. But I finally chosen the Boyzone song not because they were my favorite band but because the message of the song is better than "Father and Son". My copy of "When All I Said and Done" is still in the cassette tape format and for the life of me, I had a hard time finding an MP3 format of the song...so I opted for a Youtube version. (Ironically, Gentle Gentle didn't have a Youtube version, so I opted the MP3 version instead...hehe).
Looking at the lyrics of the song, it sums up what a father is to all of us. He's someone who guides us and protects us from harm. He lets us learn our mistakes and just guide us back to the right path.
He's the provider of the family. The head. The one who makes the toughest decisions when it comes to raising the kids. Well...of course, the mom guides the dad with the decision but often times, the fathers are the ones with the last say in the matter.
But now that we're all grown up and ready to face the world, we can proudly tell our dads "When all is said and done, look before you I'm your son (or daughter)."
So to all the dads out there. The househusbands, the working dads, the single dads, the step-dads, the grandfathers, the conservative and liberated dads. All the fathers in the world who had been a guiding force to their children. Thank you!!! Happy Father's Day!!!
