I remember before that I had already mentioned that I love having a day off on a weekday rather than a weekend. Well, I have not changed my mind about that.
It's really great to get a day off on a weekday. I usually get to spend more time at home than I usually do. Not only do I get to spend more time at home, I get to sleep longer and relax more.
As compared to the usual weekend day off, I never get enough rest. Why is that you may ask? Well I have good reasons.
One, I get to sleep longer on a weekday because I have no other plans...except when my grandmother ask me to go to the market to buy vegetables and stuff. On a weekend, I still have to get up early because I go out on Saturdays and go to church on Sundays and since I was in a choir, I couldn't possibly go to church on any other times.
Two, I have no one to fight with computer usage. I can spend my day using the internet if I wanted to without any brothers or sister shoving you out of the PC. On a weekend, since everyone will be there, everyone will be planning to use the computer since they have not used the computer for the whole week. Weekends are usually the time we check out emails in any case our parents send us one and that would be the only time we get to answer them as well. But since my day off is on a week day, I get to spend as much time in the PC with no one to fight with. =)
Three, I get to spend time watching the DVDs andVCDs I have yet to watch. I did a movie marathon yesterday, got to watch Freaky Friday and the Dinotopia mini-series of Hallmark. On a weekend, since all of us would be at home, it has to be a family thing. We watch something that everyone would be able to watch and not just one person...otherwise we'll end up doing something else.
Four, I get to relax more because I finish off my work in one day and get to spend a whole day of rest on the next. On a weekend, I usually do work twice since I spend half of my time outside of my home during the weekend.
Five, I still get to go out on gimicks. During the weekends where everybody has their day offs, I still get to go out with them (my shift ends at 330pm) since I have plenty of time to do so. During my day offs I'd really rather spend it at home as much as possible. I really don't like to go out much when I don't have any other plans except to hang out. I'm really a homebuddy (or is that homebody...not really sure). If it isn't necessary for me to go out..I won't...and as much as I want to spend time with my friends...I'd rather rest my body for the next day...especially in my condition. And it's easier to go out and have fun when you're already out to begin with. If you're coming from home, it's really hard to get your butt out of that gate and walk into gimick land.
The only thing I really don't like about weekdays day off is that the usual Sunday get together of me and my siblings. Usually on a Sunday, we get to spend time together...go swimming, biking (though we stopped doing that anymore since we only have one bike now), rock climbing, bowling (though none of us is really good at it), eating out...those kind of stuff...Now that I have work on Sundays, we only do dinner outs...well, not necessarily "out" out...but take out or delivery...it's the least we can do now...
But at the whole, I love my day off. I know sacrifices have to be made for work...but I'm having fun nonetheless. =)
