I know, I know...it's been almost a week and some people would say that I should have given it a rest already since it's all been done and there's nothing I can do about it anymore. But honestly, I really can't get it out of my head. He was doing great! He was a head of the order and then, after the break, I saw his car slowing to a stop. It was like my whole world started to crumble right before my very eyes.
Kimi Raikkonen had never been a hero to me. He is one of the most talented drivers today and you can really see it whenever he drives. Never makes the same mistake twice, and always find ways to improve on his driving everytime you see him going around the track. His records clearly showed that he never retired in a race that was due to driver error. It would always be something wrong with the car that he's driving. And last Sunday, the same thing happened to him. Right when you thought he has got the trophy in the bag, you suddenly see him slow to a stop. But what's really great about him is that everytime he falls down (or in his case a car trouble) he never did see it in a negative way. Yes, he might be boiling mad getting out of the car and releasing his frustration at the nearest marshal but heck, the next time you see him, he'll be cool as ice once again and ready for the next race. He might have a bad temper from time to time, but he always see to it that it's a passing thing.
Sad really. It's practically the home race of Mclaren Mercedes and this happens. I bet Raikkonen fans were wishing that it was the other guy who suddenly slowed to a stop. But stop he did and it was the end of the race for him.
Anyway, as I was watching the race I was really hoping that things will be okay for him. I mean, it was bad enough that he had two races at the back or at the middle of the grid because the problem with the engines though he managed to get a good place at the end of the race. And because of that, I was hoping that three times the charm...it ended up being strike three you're out. =(
My poo boy. Even he admitted that he never get to finish in that track. But he was really hoping that his "curse" will be lifted. Alas...it wasn't time for it. =(
I really hope that the next race would be a lot better for him...I mean, he deserves it after all. He's really good at his craft and he has never done anything wrong when it comes to his driving. This Sunday, I trully hope that whatever problems he has encountered in the last race would be the last and make him start winning races again...not just the second and third place...or finish to have a score for the team. But a win. I want to see him back at the podium (on the top of course) waving to his fans and smile his very conservative smile.
I am crossing my fingers that it will happened this week.
