Something I Can Relate To

I got this email from a friend of mine and it's really timely especially of what's been happening here in my country. Honestly speaking, I completely agree to the person who wrote this. For someone who is an employee and has no choice but to pay her taxes because it's already being deducted from my pay check, I really know how it feels like whenever these problems in the country happens.

Take for example the proposed E-VAT on basic necessities like gas and toll. Plus the additional tax on Doctor's fees and hospital bills. They'll even put a tax on movie tickets!

For someone like me who already feels the tax that was taken out of my salary, these additional taxes is burning a hole on my wallet. I mean, isn't it enough that the government is already getting 1/4 of my salary, but to actually get 10% from everything that I pay for is already too much. I wouldn't have minded if I actually see something being done with all those tax money that was taken from me. But for the life of me, I really don't see it. I still see children begging for money on the streets. I still see a lot of homeless and jobless people (though, it's their own fault sometimes that they don't do anything to better their lives). I still see that our public schools aren't really helping our younglings to learn the value of education. I still see our roads not being fixed. I still see people collecting on the side of these broken roads to actually have these roads fixed! (Now where does all the money for those roads go? Do I really need to answer that?) People are getting poorer, the rich people are tax evading, and us in the middle will never be able to feel the little luxury that we try to give ourselves with what meager salary that we get. We employees will stop dreaming of a brighter tomorrow and just accept the fact that we will be drones for the rest of our lives, paying taxes for a country that will never be able to rise from the corruption and problems it faces everyday. And what do we get as compensation for our good deed in paying taxes? MORE TAXES!!! What the f**k is that?

Well, this is my take on it. Read on and see what jawbreaker has to say. And as I re-read my side, I think I just emulated most of the things he will be saying...but of course I have to voice out my own feelings.

The Philippines is worthless
By : jawbreaker (an ordinary office worker who doesn'twant to pay taxes anymore…ever!)

I can't help myself anymore. I am so sick of what'shappening to this country!

Endless corruption, endless griping, shitslinging andpissing contests between politicians, endlessinvestigations of all sorts of issues without everreaching a decent resolution, endless power-grabbingbetween parties, increasing numbers of lazy, stupidFilipinos, continual defending of useless ideologies.

The Philippine government beats the septic tank beingsucked up by Malabanan hands down any day – it's sofull of scum and stinks to high heavens. Is it anywonder the Philippines is one of the poorest, mostcorrupt countries in the world? Because they're allrotten, they're all worthless. They're all greedy forpower and money.

Son of a !$#%Q!&*@!!!!!

I may be a Christian, but I can't stop myself fromcursing and asking God (and sometimes even the devil)that they all die and be barbecued forever in hell.

Who's "they"? Who else but corrupt governmentofficials and workers, idle Filipinos withmore-than-able bodies but don't work and don't paytaxes, the rich and the entertainers who evade taxes, even those activists, NPAs and other ideologicalgroups who don't pay taxes but stir up trouble!!! Ihope you all die!!!

Politicians always keep saying: Fight for the masses!Help the masses! Love the masses!

Dammit! Are the masses the only people in thePhilippines?

Who's really keeping this country afloat?

Where does the money for building roads and bridgescome from? Where does the pork barrel come from? Wheredoes the money you steal come from?

We workers and the middle class, who already have deductions even before we get our salary – WE are the ones keeping this worthless country afloat!!!

Why are those masses always the center of thosepoliticians' platforms, are they paying taxes???!!!

F**k you! Not a single one of those rallying squattersis remitting a single cent to the BIR!

But does the government listen to us?

Too often the government attends to the opinion of themasses. The ones who go rallying in EDSA get their way. The ones who shout the loudest but don't make any economic contributions, they always get the spotlightwhen there are problems. They're always the stars.

We ordinary office workers, OFWs, laborers andeveryone else working and paying taxes – we're the ones struggling to keep this country alive. We are the true heroes of the land!!!Everytime I see my payslip, I see red and want to cryfrom sheer frustration. So much tax is taken out of my earnings but my hard-earned money is just being usedfor useless things. I scrimp and save to support myself, my family and this damned country. I can't even buy a chicken and spaghetti meal at Jollibee no matter how hungry I am. I make do with a 10-peso waffle, or if I have a little extra, junior bola-bola siopao from Mini-Stop for P20. If all that money I'm paying for taxes went to me instead, I could watch a movie at least twice a month. I could have finally bought new rubber shoes. I couldbe having my own house built.

Most of the taxes I'm paying go straight to the pockets of corrupt government officials and workers. While I struggle to budget my money, they're living in their mansions. They even drive SUVs and luxury cars, while I only take a pedicab!!

Son of a bitch! That's my money you're squandering!!!!

The taxes I pay are used to support the poor. Where does the money for housing and financial aid to the needy come from, if not from the workers who pay taxes! But when you see how the poor act you'd think they're being overly oppressed.

If truth be told, the poor are getting poorer becausethey're lazy!

There are so many men hanging out in the streetsdespite their big bodies. If they worked as porters at the pier at least they'd have money.

And they don't have money, but they keep having children! Goddammit! You're just adding to the number of lazybums and idiots in the world!!!! I feel sorry for those kids wandering in the streets and asking for money. Instead of studying, they're just adding to the number of future criminals in thePhilippines. I wouldn't be surprised if the kid I sawbegging in Cubao becomes a cellphone snatcher in a few years. As for you parents out there, common sense please! You're already struggling as it is, why drag othersinto the mess? Why increase your tribe!! Just because there's no work and no worries, you bump and grind all day and all night.

Actually, it's impressive. Even under the bridge or in a cart, you still manage to make babies! It just means Pinoys have talent. When there's a will, there's a way. Even if it's cramped, foul and dirty – ALL RIGHT!

Another group that gets on my nerves are those activists, NPAs and all those other ideological groups. They say they really, truly love thePhilippines and that's why they are fighting for their principles. Dammit! Well you don't pay taxes either, you shameless jerks! Hypocrites! So much for loving the Philippines when you don't want to pay taxes! Are there tax collectors in the middle of Mendiola andEDSA? Are there tax collections in the mountains? You don't have jobs anyway! If you had jobs, you wouldn't be going to rallies because you'd have to give up your day's wages if you were absent!

How can you show your love for the Philippines if you do nothing else but go to rallies or hide in the mountains??!!

And those entertainers and the rich, who cheat and don't pay taxes. You shameless bastards! You already have tons of money but you're still cheating on taxes!!! It's not as if you could bring your riches along with you in hell, your money would just burn there.

No wonder business is in a slump in the Philippines, because businessmen are cheats. Even teh showbiz industry is going downhill. That's called karma. That's because you're scoundrels.

If only there would be POLITICAL AND NATIONAL CLEANSING.

Remove (better yet, kill) all the politicians and political families in power. Boot out all destructive organizations and groups. Throw all lazy Filipinos on a remote island or force them to do hard labor. Separated kids from their lazy, stupid parents so they can go to school and learn to be good individuals and citizens. have a new leader with no political ties and debts of honor to anyone. And above all, only taxpayers should be allowed to vote!

If we need a war for Filipinos to shape up, fine. People here have become too hardheaded. They want freedom, but aren't ready to face the responsibilities of being free. They claim they are fighting for principles but are afraid to die for them.

(To those of you who know the anime Gundam Wing, that's my inspiration for the new Philippines hehe. Ilove you Zechs! I love you Treize!)

As long as there is no radical change, the Philippineswill continue to be useless and the majority ofFilipinos will continue to become stupid.

With all the Filipinos migrating to other countries, the time will come when only a minority of theFilipino population will have brains. Talented Filipinos will have gone by then. They're just too frustrated and depressed by what they're seeing.

In a few years I'll be leaving the Philippines too. I have no plans of raising a family in a country that doesn't value the contributions of those who are really keeping it alive. If my future child had to live here, poor kid!

To be honest, I'm broken hearted. I did love this country. I kept on defending it no matter how rotten it was. I've already reached other lands, but I chose to come back. But now, I've had enough. I give up. I'm a waste in this country. My hopes are simple. I justwant to live quietly and peacefully. I want to be able to praise the Philippines. But there's just nothing. This country is doomed to stay in the pits.

I know there are still plenty who hope and believe in change. Good luck and God bless! I hope you're right and I'm wrong.
