Early this morning when I was watching Formula 1, I had this assumption that it would be the same like all the other races that I had watched so far. And at around one o'clock on the morning, I was about to go back to sleep because I have work in a couple of hours when one by one all the Michellin runners came into the pits after the parade run leavin only the two Ferraris, the two Jordans and the two Minardis in the track racing on their own.
It really woke me up! Seeing only 6 cars on track while everyone else is back on pits watching everything. Of course, spectators were really dumbfounded at what happened and they didn't like the outcome of only 6 cars racing. They spend around $80 to watch 20 cars race but they got the bad end of the deal when they only saw the Bridgestone runners on track. I feel pity for the audience because they didn't get to watch a great race.
I heard that it has something to do with Michellin telling the teams that their tires aren't fit to race. And I guess what had happened to Ralf during pre-practice just re-inforced their decision. Everyone who was ordered to come back to the pits really wanted to race, really wanted to give the spectators their money's worth. But they were ordered not to. It's sad really. I feel for the drivers who had a really good chance at winning but because of this decision, gave Ferrari the push they needed.
It's sad really. I blame it on Michellin for not giving the teams the tires that can be fit for racing. And because of this, Renault who was leading both in the Constructors and the Drivers Championship find themselves worried for the next race. And Kimi! My Kimi is yet again pressured to win a race in two weeks because Michael is now breathing down his throat.
This is really sad. The race would have been very exciting but because of this blunder, I watched in agony as those 6 cars drive around the circuit.
On a good note, I saw a Jordan in third place. A good win for both Jordan and Minardi since now they are in the points.
Honestly, I am at a lost for words at what happened. It could have been avoided. But...oh well...
