Of Holy Week, Birthdays and F1

As a promise to one of my friends in Multiply, I got my thoughts together and try to chronicle what had happened during my birthday. Since nothing much had happened on that day, I just added some more thoughts on the last F1 race and what we did during Holy Week...in short this is going to be a short blog.

Holy Week was celebrated the same way we do every year. Stay at home, reflect, go to church when we are required to, fasting and abstinence, join the yearly Way of the Cross done on our street, Visita Iglesia, and the 7th Heaven Marathon. We had this small debate on what other religions do during Holy Week since after all the Holy Week is a Catholic Celebration...though I think that other Christian sects do something during this season as well...but I'm not really sure. Then there was my younger brother's debate on why we need to fast and abstain every Friday of Lent...we never really did close that debate. And of course the Da Vinci Code debate on whether Jesus was indeed married to Magdalene or not...which I have not changed stands since I last typed a blog about the issue.

I also got to watch that movie called "Judas and Jesus". I thought that it would show a Judas that would be similar to the Judas found in National Geographic. But it was different. It gave you an insight on Judas' belief on who Jesus was to him. To him, Jesus wasn't the Son Of God since he never believed in his miracles. All he sees are magic tricks so that Jesus can rally the people to him and fight against the Roman Empire. When Jesus didn't hold up to Judas' expectations, he was disappointed. Hence the betrayal.

As for me, well we all have different versions of what happened. Since we weren't exactly there to experience it. It's really up for the scriptures to show us what really happened. But to each his own. Just as long as we believe in one God, I really don't have to go on a long debate.

Okay, that's done.

Then came my birthday.

Well, what can I say? I celebrated it like it was another ordinary day minus the chores. My old officemates and close friends greeted me a few days before my actual birthday. My aunt treated me out to lunch the day before my birthday. On the day itself, my older brother woke me up when he called on his way to work to greet me and my parents called me up to greet me in the afternoon. But I had fun...got to read most of the day since I wasn't allowed to do house work. Here are the gifts that I got on my birthday:

This is Pao-pao (you guys know him from here)
My birthday gift to myself

Islander Slippers
Best type of slippers for only P215
Long lasting, very comfortable and very reliable...beats Havaianas any day
(I still believe that Havaianas are very expensive versions of Spartan Slippers)

My almost complete collection of the Dune Series
Okay for my birthday, I only bought Dune Messiah since I have the rest, but I'm proud to actually found them and know where to buy the last to books

Alex Rider Collection
My sister got me all three, though Stormbreaker was a Christmas gift.
Three down, three to go...then my Collection is complete...bwahahahaha!!!!

Well...on with F1.

I don't really know whether to be disappointed or feel fine with how the race turned up. Well...my older brother's gloating since his team won 1 and 2. But then, Kimi did say that they need to compromise a lot just to keep the car running towards the finish line. Hmm...okay maybe I'm a little disappointed because he wasn't first. I do hope in the next race, he'll do way better.

Okay...so far, that's about it...well, my one birthday gift that I really wanted and needed got either a bit delayed or never going to happen...I hope it's the former.
