Rest In Peace

Sorry for the late entry but I still need to make this short in memoriam to a person who has more or less made me believe that anything is possible just as long as you have a notebook handy and a very big imagination.

This blog entry is dedicated to Gary Gygax, founder of Dungeons and Dragons - the very first RPG game I have played.

Growing up with a health problem isn't really easy. You get teased, bullied and sometimes you end up resenting everything around you since you can't do half of what other kids are doing at your age. So, what's a child got to do? Enter a world of make-believe.

I started playing Dungeons and Dragons at age 7. My older brother took a copy of the book home and he introduced us to this game. Since that time, I really got into role playing. It's a means of escape in a world where you are the victim. It's where I began to realize that I have a different kind of talent that few people have.

Dungeons and Dragons paved the way for me to harness my creative thinking and start writing stories based on a world that I have created. It helped me open my eyes to the wonderful world of wizards, mages, dragons and a lot of different creatures. It opened up my eyes to a world full of possibilities and promises.

Thanks to Gary Gygax for creating a world where magic exists. He may not have been the first person who introduced fantasy to us but he was the person responsible for the phenomenon that is RPG. Whether it be a your old table top, pen and paper type RPG or the ones you play in the computer, Gary Gygax is the man responsible for it all.

Every time I take out my pencil, character sheets and D10s, I will always give a silent salute to Mr. Gygax! Thank you for sharing your fantasy world to us!
