I would just like to dedicate this moment to pay tribute to two great Filipinos. Both of which were famous for their voices. One is famous for his novelty songs, the other is famous for his unique speaking voice.
Ramon "Yoyoy" Villame. Famous for his songs like "Granada", "Butsikik", and some more songs that has been covered by different artists. He died at age 75 last Friday, May 18, 2007. I could say that he was the "Father of Philippine Novelty Music" and no one can be compared to him. He will surely be missed. And he will forever be immortalized through his songs.
Cesar "Kuya Cesar" Nucum. Famous for his "sleepy" bedroom voice on the radio. Heard in dzMM every Sundays. He died at age 69 last Thursday, May 17, 2007. To quote the writer in Inquirer, "Kuya Cesar was known for his trademark style of speaking slowly in an even voice, providing a sharp contrast in a medium that values high-octane, dramatic and even flamboyant speaking styles." He will surely be missed as well. Even if people try to imitate him, they won't be successful.
Two greats. Two people surely be missed. I bow my head in respect.
Thank you for your very unique way of entertainment!
