Unfortunately, I'm not talking about the politician. I'm talking about our pet fish my father named after the politician he doesn't like.
Our pet fish Allan Peter Cayetano, "Pete" for short, has moved on to bluer waters. He had been sick for almost three weeks now. He wasn't eating anything and he wasn't really as lively as he was before.
We were changing his water when it happened. We thought it was another routine weekly change for us since he has gotten sick but after we've finished cleaning his tank and moving him back there, he suddenly lied to his side and started to turn upside down. At first, we were just thinking that he may be trying to fight off what has been bothering him for weeks but he suddenly stopped moving after a few moments. I went to my room to do some stuff and a few minutes later my older sister went inside our room crying. That's when it hit me that our pet is dead.
I was crying when my younger brother was digging a grave for him. And when I thought I was done crying, new batch of tears formed when Ben finally turned off the light of his aquarium, telling us that Pete is no longer with us.
People reading this might really just laugh it out since I am just talking about a fish. But for some reason, we really got attached to that fish and it was a sad day at home when we buried him and cleaned out his stuff. He was a good pet. Spoiled, attention seeker but nonetheless a good pet.
It might take some time before I can really eat fish again...especially tilapia since he did look like one when he was growing. I don't think I'll be able to take care of another fish again.
Anyway, cheers to Pete the flowerhorn, bought on January 9, 2006 died on July 27, 2009.
Hope that you're swimming in good waters.
